About

The Widcombe Art Trail is a Widcombe Association annual event and is part of Bath Open Studios. It is community based organisation where a group of talented local artists display their works of art and you get the opportunity to explore the beautiful parish of Widcombe.

It all started in 2007 when two local artists, Sarah Lewis and Sue Wales, provided the main impetus to set up an Art Trail. Sue’s daughter Charlotte nobly designed the map and the layout of the first leaflet, then later Rod Clements took over those duties.

The first Widcombe Art Trail took place on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July 2007 and was open from 11.00 am to 5.30 pm on both days, with private viewings on the evening of Friday 29th.  The first Art Trail proved hugely popular, and in 2012 the Widcombe team got together with other Bath Art Trails in 2012 to set up Bath Open Studios.

The trail has run every year since except 2020 when it was decided not to do it because of the Covid epidemic.  Sarah ran it for at least five years and then handed over the running of it to Caroline Davies. Pippa Wrigley took it over in 2021.

The Art Trail continues to go from strength to strength, and 2026 promises to be the best yet.
